The e-Visa for Togo is now available via an online application

The government of Togo has announced that all travelers who need a visa for the West African country can now obtain an e-Visa for Togo via a simple online application.

The Togolese Republic first announced its intention to digitize the visa application process in February 2022, and the system was fully implemented a few months later, in June.

The Togo e-Visa application is an extension of an existing online service, the Voyage platform, which was launched in August 2020 to record all immigration entering and leaving the country. All passengers entering and leaving Togo are required to submit a travel form.

However, the new version of Voyage also includes an electronic visa application for Togo and manages applications for residence permits. It also allows vaccinated visitors to declare their COVID-19 vaccination status and unvaccinated travelers to register for a PCR test.

“From now on, anyone wishing to enter or leave Togo must” use the online service, Togolese ministers Yark Damehame and Cina Lawson said in a joint statement. The duo is respectively in charge of Togo’s security and digital transformation.

How the electronic visa platform for Togo works

Togo’s online immigration platform allows travelers to perform all immigration functions in a centralized digital space.

The traveler has the possibility of creating an individual account with a passport on which he can record personal information such as name, contact details and passport data. This saves them from having to fill in the information for each trip to and from Togo.

With this account, they can then complete immigration forms, upload health information, and apply for a Togo visa if needed. Users can pay the Togo visa exclusively onlineusing either mobile money payment or a debit or credit card.

This eliminates the need to visit a Togo embassy or consulate to apply for a visa and simplifies and speeds up the visa application process for travellers.

Although the platform is currently only intended for air passengers, the Togolese authorities have announced that it will also take into account land and sea travel by the end of 2022.

The Togo online visa platform also has a visa verification function

Travelers who don’t know if they need a visa for Togo can also check the visa requirements for their nationality on the platform.

However, there are currently very some nationalities that do not need a visa for Togothe majority being citizens of other West African countries.

Only citizens of the following countries can visit Togo without a visa:

  • Benign
  • Burkina Faso
  • Green cap
  • Ivory Coast
  • Gambia
  • Ghana
  • Guinea
  • Guinea-Bissau
  • Liberia
  • mali
  • Niger
  • Nigeria

All other nationalities need a visa for Togo to travel to the African country. Fortunately, the process is now much easier with the introduction of the Togo e-Visa.
